We craft our jewelry from just two different precious metals – 925 sterling silver and 900 gold.
Gold and silver, in their pure form, are very "soft" and therefore unsuitable for processing into everyday objects or jewelry. Therefore, they are usually alloyed (fused) with other metals. This improves their mechanical properties, especially their hardness.
However, we believe that precious metals should only contain as much foreign metal as is necessary to achieve the desired properties.
Sterling silver 925
For silver jewelry today, so-called sterling silver with a fineness of 925/1000 is common. This very high-quality alloy consists of 92.5% silver and only 7.5% foreign metals (mostly copper).
Unfortunately, there is no globally applicable standard regulating the type of foreign metals. While typically only copper is added, which optimally enhances the properties of silver, alloying with other metals, such as zinc, aluminum, or even toxic cadmium, is also possible in certain countries!
The term “sterling silver” alone is no guarantee of high-quality jewelry if the origin is unclear.
900 gold
Due to the high price, an alloy is often used for gold jewelry, which, in addition to simply improving the material properties, also serves another purpose - increasing the volume.
When a large amount of foreign metals is added to pure gold, it's obvious that the mass also increases accordingly. Visually, this results in significantly more material that can be processed—but only visually. Considering that a 585 gold alloy consists of only slightly more than half gold, this effect becomes clear.
The color of gold is also influenced by the addition of additional metals such as silver, copper, or palladium. A higher copper and lower silver content gives the gold a rose to red gold hue, while palladium "decolorizes" the gold, turning it white gold.
We exclusively work with 900 yellow gold. In addition to its beautiful, rich color, we use this high-carat gold alloy because we believe it offers the best balance between purity and durability.
Our Gold 900 contains 90% gold, 6% silver and 4% copper.
Our 925 sterling silver contains 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper.
These precious metals are not only of the highest quality, but are also made from 100 percent recycled raw materials according to RJC standards . This guarantees socially and environmentally responsible procurement and processing of the recycled materials used.
